| Ryan Makes History with Win at The Mile |

Saturday, June 5, 2004 - American Ryan Hunter-Reay led the most laps in the history of a Champ Car race today when he won the Time Warner Cable 250 from the pole position at America's oldest racetrack, The Milwaukee Mile. Hunter-Reay took the green flag and led by a 19 second margin of victory through most of the race, lapping the field up to the fourth position. Hunter-Reay dominated the entire event; he led the entire weekend and maximized every opportunity presented. It was Hunter-Reay's second Champ Car victory in as many years and his first in 2004 with his new team, Herdez Competition. Both Hunter-Reay and Herdez Competition achieved their first Champ Car pole positions this weekend. Hunter-Reay moves to third in the point standings with 66 and his teammate Mario Dominguez is fifth with 62. Ryan Hunter-Reay, #4 Herdez/Lola/Ford-Cosworth Ryan on the day: “This is great, I am so happy to be here, this is a fantastic series, it is challenging and I am proud to have another win under my belt. My engineer Will Phillips gave me a great car, the Herdez crew gave me perfect pitstops and I did my part in the race, we deserve to be on top. Our re-starts were awesome the whole race long. My car was so good, I was concerned with Tom Brown, Technical Director: “This is a result of the hard work that came in our testing during preseason preparations. This was a team effort they did a great job.” |
