Promising Morning Ends in Disappointment in Portland Print E-mail

Ryan Hunter-Reay paced warm-up this morning, hoping the technical gremlins the team had been fighting all weekend were over, but it wasn't to be. Hunter-Reay made a great start, he gained three positions and ran as high as seventh before the instability of the rear-end of his car took over and made it a very long 94 lap race for the #4 crew, who made three perfect pitstops. Hunter-Reay took the checkered flag in the 12th position; he earned nine race points and is ranked fifth in the drivers Championship.

Warm Up: 1st 1:00.544 117.078
Race: 12th Running

Ryan on the day: "That was the most difficult two hours of my racing career. We have been working all weekend trying to settle the rear of the car. After each stop the car was great, but after five laps or so, the rear-end would become extremely unstable. My crew did a fantastic job in the pits again today, they were doing their best to help me out, but I was lucky to finish the race, the car was extremely hard to drive. While we will spend a lot of time as a group trying to figure out what went wrong here, we have this one behind us now and we will head to Cleveland where I have had very good results, so I am looking forward.”
