Traffic Plagues Provisional Qualifying for Hunter-Reay Print E-mail
Thursday, July 1, 2004 - Herdez Competition's Ryan Hunter-Reay look sforward to final qualifying on Friday as his best efforts were fumbled by traffic today. Ryan is happy with the balance of his racecar, proving the team's hard work has paid off.

Hunter-Reay held the provisional pole for a portion of the qualifying session and ran in the top-three throughout, before being bumped to fifth in the last minute of green track time.

Ryan Hunter-Reay, #4 Herdez/Lola/Ford-Cosworth
Position Tine Speed (MPH)
Practice 1: 5th 1:00.252 125.832
Qualifying: 5th 58.529 127.942

Ryan on the day: “The team has done a fantastic job preparing for this event, my car was excellent. We should have been on pole or at the very least in the top three. Unfortunately, Sebastian (Bourdais) ruined my fastest lap, he backed off right in front of me at the approach to three and that was it. It was my final flyer of the session and it was good, unfortunately we won't benefit from it, but I will do it again tomorrow. I am definitely looking forward to final qualifying."
