Ryan Honored with Greg Moore Legacy Award PDF Print E-mail

(Indianapolis, In. – November 12, 2004) – American Ryan Hunter-Reay was honored with the Greg Moore Legacy Award at Champ Car's season championship awards banquet on Sunday night in Mexico City.

The Greg Moore Legacy Award is given annually to the driver that best represents the ideals and talents of the Canadian star, who met with tragedy in the 1999 Champ Car finale. The award is presented to the driver who best typifies Moore's legacy of outstanding talent on track, as well as displaying a dynamic personality with fans, media and the champ Car community.

Hunter-Reay stormed onto the Champ Car scene in 2003 and has earned victories in his first two Champ Car seasons. β€œTo be chosen for the Greg Moore Legacy award is a tremendous honor. Greg was an inspiration for me, and a true example of a professional athlete on and off the track. He accomplished so much in a short period of time and his persona is still very much a part of Champ Car racing, I will represent it well.”

Hunter-Reay wrapped up his second Champ Car season Sunday at the Gran Premio Telmex-Tecate in Mexico City. He set a new Champ Car record earlier this season when he won the Time Warner Cable 250 at the historic Milwaukee Mile from pole position, leading all 250 laps-the most laps led in a single event in Champ Car.
