The infamous Turn One in Cleveland overtook Ryan Hunter-Reay’s #31 Cytomax Sport Drink/Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone during the first lap when he was involved in an incident, making contact that would eventually end his day. After maneuvering around cars before heading into the first turn, the American thought he was in a good position but before he knew it, a passed car turned into him, leaving the Champ Car veteran with no where to go and no way to avoid contact. A broken front suspension would end his day before it began, sitting him on the sidelines of a race that he claims to be a favorite on the Champ Car World Series schedule.
Ryan will have two weeks off before heading to Canada for back-to-back racing starting in Toronto, then Edmonton. As those two races approach, the team will be getting close to the half-way marker in the season and hope that the luck they have been lacking in the commencing races will turn as they continue to fight for the championship title. Quotes Ryan Hunter-Reay #31 Briggs & Stratton/Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone “I had a good pass going into Turn One, getting around two or three cars, but then one of those cars turned in on me, leaving me with no where to go. It is unfortunate, but it’s a Cleveland Turn One deal, sometimes its bites, sometimes it helps, there is really nothing you can do about it. The Rocketsports guys did a really good job this weekend giving me a good car for today’s race. We found a big improvement this morning during warm-up and we were really optimistic for this afternoon’s event. It is a shame that we did not get the chance to run the race, but with the changes we made on the car set up this weekend and this morning, we can use for future tracks and just move on.” |
