Ryan Hunter-Reay thumbed his nose at Champ Car in the best possible way – six strong showings for Rahal Letterman and surely a full-time gig for 2008.

The former Atlantic winner who was kicked to the curb by Champ Car’s owners jumped into Jeff Simmons’ ride and immediately worked his way to the front, despite his lack of testing and no previous IRL seat time. He qualified sixth at Detroit and just missed the Fast Six at Sonoma.

Nice to see one open-wheel series still covets talented Americans.
